President's Report

Another Successful Spring Conference
The 2025 Spring Conference saw record attendance at 207 delegates from 148 different entities. I was thrilled to see familiar faces, as well as the more than 30 hands that went up when I asked who was attending for the first time. Thank you to our sponsors and members for making it a success. Please upload any photos we can post on our website from the 2025 conference here and previous conferences here.
Celebrating 50 years with new initiatives
I am excited to introduce new initiatives this year to better connect our members with one another. See the news and updates below for more details. As UGFOA celebrates its 50th year supporting our government finance community, we will also be updating our mission, vision, and bylaws.
Meetings, Meetings, Meetings
We have an unprecedented number of meetings scheduled this year. See the calendar of events below for registration links and be sure to save the date for the fall and spring conferences.
News and Updates
Introducing the UGFOA Mentorship Program
We’re excited to announce the launch of the UGFOA Mentorship Program—created to strengthen connections across our professional community by pairing experienced government finance professionals with those newer to the field.
Mentors and mentees will be matched based on their areas of interest, roles, goals, entity type, and organization size, helping ensure meaningful and relevant conversations. Participants are encouraged to meet at least once each quarter in a format that works best for them—virtually or in person. In addition, we’ll host a special mentorship session at the UGFOA Annual Conference to bring participants together for networking and shared learning.
Whether you're looking to give back or grow professionally, this is a great opportunity to support one another and build lasting professional relationships.

Join a UGFOA Committee – Help Shape the Future of Our Community!
UGFOA is powered by volunteers, and we’re looking for engaged members to join two key committees that help drive the value and vibrancy of our organization. This is a great opportunity to connect with peers, develop professionally, and give back to the UGFOA community.
Events Committee
The Events Committee plays a central role in planning and supporting UGFOA’s major gatherings, including the Spring and Fall Conferences as well as the quarterly Lunch-and-Learn events. Members of this committee help shape agendas, coordinate logistics, and ensure that each event delivers value and connection to attendees. If you enjoy event planning, networking, or simply want to make our events even better, this is the committee for you. We are looking for 20-25 volunteers.
Membership Committee
The Membership Committee focuses on building and sustaining a strong, active community of government finance professionals.
Responsibilities include:
- reviewing and recommending bylaw changes
- developing strategies for member recruitment and retention
- overseeing board member nominations, scholarships, and the mentorship program
- monitoring the job posting board and online forums, and
- leading advocacy efforts that support the needs of our members.
This committee is ideal for those who want to help grow UGFOA’s impact and make sure every member feels connected and supported. We are looking for 10-12 volunteers.
Interested in Joining?
If you're ready to get more involved, meet great people, and make a difference in the UGFOA community, we’d love to have you on one of these committees.

Annual Dues Now on the Calendar Year
In 2025, the membership-dues period moved to a calendar year. This was done to create a natural period-end to better align with the participation cycle most of our members observe. For those that have not paid dues in 2025, please get them paid to help us stay fiscally healthy and to keep dues a the low $25 level. Click here to access your account and pay your dues. Email [email protected] if you need help accessing your account.
